The WLAN Pi Micro Server that we use, is an award-winning specialist Wi-Fi tool developed internationally by Wi-Fi Professionals for Wi-Fi Professionals.
Because it is portable and battery-powered it provides us with a server that we can use for performance testing in the field, and it provides an iperf test object so that we can check throughput using client devices, hand-held tools or survey software such as Ekahau Pro™.
It also provides network services, such as serving IP addresses to APs, so that a small network can be built when no other wired networks are available, to baseline roaming, and also throughput during roaming in the field.
Prior to commencing any survey work it is also invaluable because it has specific client-device profiling capabilities that are essential to work out under what parameters your Wi-Fi network will need to operate in order for them to perform properly.
It also has some useful functionality to enable remote wireless console access for testing/configuring a network, as well functionality that is useful for testing and configuring APs.
